PARENT GROUPS

Parenting can be a complicated and emotionally draining experience even for the best among us.  Support groups are a rich opportunity to connect with others that share your parenting experiences, but also with those who are experiencing different challenges.  Connecting with others can be healing no matter what the circumstances.  Our groups facilitate sharing of feelings, discussion of challenges, problem solving and general support as follows:

  • Support – Open-ended discussion of parenting concerns, challenges and emotional issues.  Focus is on helping members express themselves, connect with each other and feel less alone.

  • Counseling – A variety of counseling strategies are used to help members identify and work on barriers that prevent them from being the parent they would like to be.

  • Education – Leader will share information about current research and best practices related to parenting adolescents, while maintaining a viewpoint that there is no one right way to parent.

Parent groups include:

  • Parents of Young Adults - 4th Wednesday each month, 7pm-8pm, Zoom (1 opening)

  • Parents of Adolescents with OCD - now forming, please inquire

  • Davis High School Parent Group - Wednesdays, 12-1pm, EMERGE office, starts April 16th 2025
